Election Propaganda

In the 2^nd Monday of May 2012 will be national and local election. It is once again a day of choosing the rightful leader that will serve us. It is also a season wherein political propagandas and dirty tactics of the government officials are at its peak. 

As early as today, there are many issues, many names, and many controversies in the government that are rising. Even if there are still few months before the election period, different forms of campaigns are everywhere. Whether they say its just a greeting of an announcement from some government official or to anyone who are going to be involve in the election, still it is a form of campaign. Some are making non-sense arguments with other politicians. While others are simply trying to focus on build reputation and popularity.

This things are very usual whenever election is coming, but I also do think that it is odd. Odd because this people never did such things for no reason, and the reason is obvious; to persuade the people on voting them. As election period gets near, you'll see who are the turncoats and you'll also see who are the people who are just nice when election period. It is funny to see this people desperately do things for them to win the election. Even though they already know that if they win, their role will be a leader and a public servant. They will do everything to win, it might be the easy way or the hard way.  

And I know some people who does it in a hard way, just for the price of being a public servant, or is it? Remember the Maguindanao Massacre, wherein a total of 58 people where kidnapped and brutally killed while on their way to file the Certificate of Candidacy of Esmael Mangundadatu, the vice mayor of Butuan by tha time. Those that were killed are mostly journalists and those who will run for the election, including the wife of Esmael Mangundadatu. The primary suspect of this incident was the Mangundadatu's political rival, the Ampatuan. In this incident, it is very clear that the Ampatuan chooses the hard way just to get the position in the government, he chooses the hard way just to serve the people. But is it really just for public service?

Well, I really do think that is was not for public service at all. This people do crazy things because of the power that the position in the government has to offer. It is never because of being a leader or a servant, hence it is because of  power and money. Who says there's no money in being a government official? Well, if there's no money, why is it many people are hungry for a position in the government. There is money in being a government official, you'll get a lot if you know how to play with it. That is why they think of strategies and ways to get everyone's vote. Even if the only way is killing your opponent, just like what the Ampatuan does. 

So, tell me how peaceful the election is in the country? Base on what I have seen today and experienced before, it is always the same propagandas and dirty tactics. Persuading the public to through their lying mouths. I just really hope that even if things are at amiss, the incident like the Maguindanao Massacre will not happen 
again.
